The Lapland region of Finland is the perfect place to watch the Aurora Borealis
The Aurora Borealis is one of the most unique and beautiful natural phenomena that you can witness. The best place to watch them is Lapland, the northernmost region of Finland, because of its closeness to the North Pole, and late August is exactly the right time to go.
Auroras are the result of electrically charged solar particles making their way into the atmosphere and reacting with some of the gases that make it up. The particles shine green when they react with oxygen and purple when they come in contact with nitrogen.
