The Nyatapola Temple of Bhaktapur, Nepal, has survived several earthquakes
Pagodas are typical in some Asian countries, including China, Japan, and Korea. These tiered structures often had religious purposes and were usually Buddhist or Taoist. The Nyatapola Temple of Bhaktapur in Nepal is the tallest one in the country.
It was commissioned by King Bhupatindra Malla, who ruled from 1696 to 1722. There are even manuscripts that detail everyone who helped construct it. The building has survived several high-magnitude earthquakes, including one in 2015 that destroyed the city.
