The base of La Fortuna waterfall in Costa Rica is a prime swimming spot
Hidden amongst the rainforests of Costa Rica is the La Fortuna waterfall, which drops about 230 feet into the base of a dormant volcano called Cerro Chato. It is fed by the Arenal River, which makes its way through the greenery of the Arenal Mountain Range.
It is a popular tourist attraction, although climbing down to the base is quite steep and requires some physical abilities. Luckily, swimming is allowed in the stream or small rapids that lie below the fall.
