Mount Fuji is an iconic Japanese landmark
Almost every photo of Tokyo features Mount Fuji rising high in the background. The volcano is perhaps one of Japan’s most recognizable landmarks and has inspired endless poems and works of art. It was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List as a Cultural Site in 2013.
It is the second highest volcano in Asia, and the last recorded eruption happened from 1707 to 1708. The mount’s iconic peak has an exceptionally symmetrical cone that is covered in snow for about five months of the year.
