Antelope Canyon got its signature flowing shape through erosion
Antelope Canyon in Arizona is located part of the Navajo Reservation and was named by the Navajo people who originally inhabited the area. It is a slot canyon that is made out of sheer rock walls that were eroded by water.
These narrow channels continued to be eroded by flash floods and other processes, which widened and smoothed them out. That is why the canyon’s corridors have their characteristic curved walls and flowing shape.
