Table Mountain is a giant plateau that overlooks Cape Town
If you ever visit the South African capital of Cape Town, you will probably catch a glimpse of the massive mountain that acts as a backdrop to the city. Table Mountain is a level plateau that spans about two miles and is edged by steep cliffs.
The plateau is part of the Table Mountain National Park, home to various endemic fauna and flora species. Over 8,200 kinds of plants are native to the area, mostly fynbos, meaning fine bush.
