The Greek national anthem is the longest one in the world
Have you ever wondered why it is that every country has its own song? It is almost as if a group of people must have a flag and a national anthem to call themselves a nation. The anthem’s length does not really decide a country’s superiority, but it seems the Greeks were not aware of this.
We say this because the “Hymn to Liberty” or “Hymn to Freedom”, as they call their national anthem, is 158 stanzas long. Well, not exactly. In reality, the poem it is based on is very lengthy, but the song its citizens sing along to is made up of only two stanzas.
