Goldfish know how to distinguish classical music composers
Even the most uncommunicative animals sometimes surprise us with how smart they can be. Take fish, for example. Since they are not very trainable, humans have long believed that they were pretty dumb. However, experts discovered that goldfish might be able to distinguish between classical music composers.
Goldfish are one of the most common pet fish species and are not renowned for their brains. Still, that does not mean they possess no intelligence at all. A new study shows they can distinguish between songs composed by Bach or by Stravinsky, given that they associated the different musicians with different rewards.
