Titanic survivors boarding Carpathia in 1912
When the Titanic sank, thousands of people on the ship were at risk; while many drowned to death, others were luckily rescued by the Carpathia. The Carpathia is a full Royal Mail Ship, best known for rescuing survivors from the Titanic in 1912.
The ship came to a rescue when a Titanic SOS call contained the message ‘SOS Titanic calling. We have struck ice and require immediate assistance’ was sent out at exactly 12:25 am. This image shows the scampering guests trying to board the ship to safety.
