Mafia boss Joe Masseria lays dead on a Brooklyn restaurant floor
Giuseppe “Joe the Boss” Masseria was an Italian-American Mafia boss in New York City. He was a criminal mastermind and battled in the Castellammarese War to take over the criminal activities in New York City, but was murdered on April 15, 1931.
His death was executed in a secret deal with Maranzano. He promised Lucky Luciano that he would receive Masseria’s rackets and become his second-in-command. After the fall of Joe Boss, there was a drastic fall in the crime rate in New York City.
