A policeman halts traffic for a mother and her kittens to pass through
This image was a planned photo shoot, not accidental, as the photographer had to retake it multiple times to get a perfect shot. Two subway lines were held up for hours to allow a mother and her kittens to cross the road.
It also shows a police officer directing traffic flow on Centre Street in downtown Manhattan to halt the oncoming vehicles. The pictures show the irritated looks of the drivers as they tell the photographer to hurry up; regardless, this is still an iconic photograph of Harry Warnecke.
