A huge swarm of rubber ducks in the North Pacific
Did you know about the time thousands of rubber ducks were dumped into the Ocean? We’ll tell you the story. In late 1998, a container ship traveling from Hong Kong to Tacoma, Washington, lost twelve containers overboard by accident.
One of these containers dropped thousands of tiny, yellow rubber ducks on the currents of the North Pacific. More than 28 thousand ducks were carried away all during a storm. More than 20 years after they hit the Ocean, they’re still washing up the beaches worldwide.
