The New Jersey train graveyard
This is one of the most enigmatic dives along the New Jersey coast. Sitting upright on the bottom side by side are two intact 19th-century steam locomotives, only about the size of a modern-day train.
Precisely under 9 feet of water, about 8 miles off the beach, rest the two trains on the floor of the Ocean. You can plainly see the steam chess, piston drive arm, and the large drive wheel. The cab where the engineer would stand was made of wood and most likely consumed long ago by marine organisms such as the Teredo worm.
