At the bottom of the Black Sea rests a 2400-year-old Greek vessel. It is a unique marine environment because shipwrecks found below 150 meters in the Black Sea are almost intact, and we’ll tell you why.
The world’s oldest shipwreck remains perfectly preserved because there is no oxygen in the depths of the Black Sea. And the environment can’t sustain the biological organisms that would typically destroy the wood within a few years.
