The Arachis Caupo in California
The sudden appearance of thousands of strange marine worms on Drakes Beach, California, took locals and tourists by surprise. Also known as ‘the fat innkeeper worm,’ they are primarily found in shallow waters in China. Still, somehow, they appeared on a beach located 30 miles north of San Francisco.
Due to a large storm, they were blown away from their den and ended up on California’s coast. The Arachis Caupo can grow up to 30 centimeters and live up to 25 years. Similar to male genitalia, their odd shape was pointed out in many headlines. The Internet baptized the worms with a new name you can certainly imagine.
