The lost city of Heracleion
Heracleion, also known as ‘The Lost Egyptian City,’ was discovered by French archeologists in 2000, located 30 feet below the Mediterranean Sea. So the city the Egyptians talked about in their texts turned out to be real and not just a myth.
It was a bustling and vibrant town, judging by the numerous statues of ancient Pharaohs and pieces of artwork, and coins made of gold found there in the depths. It’s still unexplainable to everyone how the city got submerged beneath the water, but some say of a natural disaster or the water rise.
