Do not forget to visit the Vatican Gallery of Maps
This stunning room is possibly even more breathtaking than the exhibits within it. Visitors should not treat the Gallery of Maps as a corridor if they are in the Vatican Museums on their way to the Sistine Chapel since it is an entire experience in and of itself. This architectural and design wonder deserves time to go through.
The Belvedere Courtyard contains this famous gallery. It is notable not only for its map collection but also for the marvelous ceiling that dominates the room. Moreover, the maps were frescoed onto the wall panels. The Vatican Maps Hall is an excellent representation of the Italian region in the 16th century.
