The mushroom rock pushes all boundaries
A mushroom rock, also known as a rock pedestal or a pedestal rock, is a naturally occurring rock with the shape of a mushroom. These rocks are deformed in a variety of ways, including erosion and weathering, glacial action, and sudden natural disturbance. This particular rock is located in Algeria in Tamanrasset, in the Sahara Desert.
The weathering and different wind erosion rates at the rock’s top and bottom have resulted in this unique shape. Locals are worried that tourists may come to visit and instead of enjoying this natural wonder from afar, they will want their picture taken with it or on it and accidentally ruin it. Let’s hope tourists will be careful.
