The Hawa Mahal palace looks like something straight out of a fairytale
This palace is located in the Indian city of Jaipur, and it is built from red and pink sandstone on the outskirts of Jaipur’s City Palace. The structure was built in 1799 and it might be noticeable that its five-floor exterior resembles a honeycomb. The palace extends to the Zenana, or women’s chambers.
The original intention of the lattice design was to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life and festivals in the street below without being seen, as they had to follow the rules of “purdah,” which forbade them from appearing in public without face coverings. This architecture is truly stunning.
