Take a look at the Ark Fortress, in Bukhara
The Ark of Bukhara is a massive fortress in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, originally built and occupied around 400 AD. In addition to being a military structure, the Ark included what was essentially a town that was inhabited for much of the fortress’s history by the various royal courts that ruled over the region surrounding Bukhara.
This served as a fortress until Russia captured it in 1920. The Ark of Bukhara is now a tourist attraction with museums detailing its history. The restored areas are an archaeological museum, the throne room, the reception and coronation court, a local history museum, and the court mosque. It is both beautiful and historical.
