Moscow has some peculiar houses
The Moscow roundhouse or Bublik was constructed during the USSR’s housing crisis. The circular shape distinguishes it from standardized and monotonous buildings of the time. They were originally designed as temporary dwellings to address the Soviet Union’s housing crisis, but many of them were eventually built as permanent structures.
The center, meant to evoke the old Soviet residential yard, added symbolic value to the project’s seduction of the authorities. Moreover, the circle was meant to represent a form of unity and division. This project left its imprint on the Soviet urban landscape, and the circle is still a popular architectural form today.
