Book peddlers sold their books by traveling from door to door
We are very lucky these days. When book lovers want to buy a book, they can find a bookstore in almost every town in the world. Even if no book store exists within a local vicinity, bookworms can always go online and get almost any book delivered straight to their homes or offices.
Back in the day, book peddlers did not have it that easy. Reading books was not as popular as it is today. Back in the 19th century, these booksellers had to travel from door to door and convince people to buy their books. To get them interested, many book peddlers would carry short samples of their novels.
