Linotype operators drafted the news on the newspapers
Today, drafting, publishing, and spreading news is as easy as getting on your computer and posting a tweet. But before the Internet, it was very different and challenging to get the news out, especially before the advent of no computers. Newspapers in the past were made in giant printing plants and took time to put together and publish.
In order to print out newspapers back then, people relied on linotype operators. These workers had to press down the different articles onto the sheets of newspaper piece by piece with the help of a metal typesetter. These operators had to put in a lot of time to ensure the prints turned out fine.
