There are only 28 royal families left in power
Monarchies were the preferred form of government centuries ago, but nowadays, only a handful of those royal houses remain in power. Although the British royal family is the most mediatic one, other nations have also chosen to keep their kings and queens.
In total, 28 royal families remain, and they rule over a total of 43 countries. These include Japan, Spain, Swaziland, Bhutan, Thailand, Monaco, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Liechtenstein, among others.
