Although it can sometimes feel small, the world is a vast place full of fascinating quirks. With an ever-growing population and almost 200 countries, there is always something new happening somewhere. In some areas, million-year-old fossils are being discovered, and a new nation might be born in another. The Earth is constantly moving, which means that it is not easy to keep up with the enormous amount of information that travels around it. To make this easier, we have gathered some of the most interesting trivia about this blue dot we call home and the species that inhabit it. Most of the planet’s freshwater is contained in glaciers and ice sheets

You might have heard before that the Earth is composed mainly of water. Nevertheless, a good chunk of the planet’s surface is covered by saltwater oceans, and that type of water is not fit for consumption.

About 68.7% of the freshwater, the one that we need to survive, is contained in glaciers and ice sheets, which are currently being threatened by global warming. If we were to lose those stores, the consequences would be devastating.
