Oddly, the world has more than 24 time zones
If there are 24 hours in a day, it would make sense for there to be the same number of time zones in the world. Curiously, there is more than that. This is because many only differ by 30 or 45 minutes.
Nevertheless, it is difficult to determine exactly how many time zones there are. Countries that move time forward or backward an hour according to the seasons, such as the US does with daylight savings time, further complicate the matter.
