Europe has been hit by ever-worsening droughts since 2015
During the past decades, temperatures have been increasing, which has led to most of the world experiencing more severe heat waves and dry spells. In fact, Europe has been going through increasingly serious droughts since 2015.
Research has shown that the growing frequency of dry spells is unprecedented. The cause is thought to be associated with changes in the position of the North Atlantic or “polar” jet stream due to global warming. That stream influences weather changes across North America and Western Europe.
