Hundreds of new species were discovered in a deep sea volcano
The Earth is so vast that even with all the technology of the 21st century, we have not yet managed to learn everything there is to know about our home. There are still new species being discovered in remote areas of the planet, such as deep sea volcanoes.
A recent study of one near New Zealand led researchers to discover “over 300 previously unknown genera.” This means that there are hundreds of species hiding out in those hydrothermal vents that we had no idea existed.
