The 4,000-year-old wagon that was found underneath a lake
Experts believe that what is now Armenia was one of the first places humans settled in. This means that the country is home to many archeological sites dating all the way back to the Bronze Age. The Lachashen Settlement is one of those sites, and it was discovered after Lake Sevan’s waters receded. Amongst the many artifacts found was this 4,000-year-old wagon.
It is believed that the complex was part of the tomb of a very wealthy individual. Several wheeled carts were discovered, alongside many other treasures and animal carcasses. The wagons were made of oak and elm and were carved. They are some of the best-preserved examples of how Bronze era cultures of the area functioned.
