A rare example of prehistoric art was found in a cave in France
Examples of paleolithic art have been found in many places around the world, particularly in caves such as the one where these sculptures were found. It is believed that early humans took shelter in these grottoes, and left behind paintings and other artistic productions. That said, it is uncommon to find wonderfully preserved sculptures such as these bison.
The artwork dates back to about 13,000 BCE and archeologists have attributed it to the Magdalenian people who lived during the Stone Age. Artifacts and cave drawings belonging to this prehistoric group were found throughout Spain and France. Most of the artwork depicts animals such as bison, reindeer, and horses.
