The 2,000-year-old hot springs that you can still visit today
These Roman baths are located in modern-day Algeria, in a natural hot spring, and are still in use today. They date back to the Flavian era of the Roman Empire, which means they are 2,000 years old. It is called Hammam Essalihine, “the bath of the righteous,” but is also referred to as the thermal baths of Flavius.
There are two pools, one for men and another for women. Its Roman architectural style is easily identifiable, which is why it is classified as a protected national historical heritage. Nevertheless, the site has suffered from heavy use and poor maintenance. The hot springs attract many visitors, given their reputation for curing many ailments.
