The Great Pyramids of Giza were built when wooly mammoths still roamed the Earth
It is almost unbelievable that at one point in time, the world was populated by woolly mammoths that were bigger than any terrestrial creature still alive today. It is even more incredible to think that these huge creatures coexisted with humans.
To give some perspective, the Pyramids of Giza were built between 2550 and 2490 BC. Wooly mammoths are believed to have become extinct around 3,700 to 4,000 years ago, which means that they still roamed the planet when the Egyptians began construction on their pyramids.
