The 20th century saw an accelerated increase in new inventions
We live in a world where technological and scientific advances occur very rapidly. That being said, for most of human history, it took centuries to make new discoveries. That began to change during the 20th century when we invented the airplane and the atomic bomb with only a 40-year difference.
The Wright brothers were the first to complete a successful flight in 1903. One of the brothers, Orville, was still alive in 1945 when the first atomic bomb was tested in New Mexico. Talk about being part of and a witness to history in the making.
