Doctor Who almost failed because no one watched the first episode
While a TV series’ success depends primarily on its quality, other factors can also make a big difference. For instance, the date and time the show is released influence how many people may watch it. One of the longest-running TV series ever, Doctor Who, almost failed because of when the first episode aired.
It was scheduled to premiere on November 23rd, 1963, but a day earlier, US President John F. Kennedy was shot. This tragic event effectively meant that almost no one watched the first episode of this TV show when it originally came out.
