Gandhi and Hitler were contemporaries
A curious characteristic of history is that historical figures with wildly opposite values are often contemporaries and may have even had contact with each other. This was the case with Mahatma Gandhi and Adolf Hitler. One was an icon of peace and the other of hate.

These historical figures died only three years apart: Hitler in 1954 and Gandhi in 1948. The Indian leader even wrote to the German dictator, telling him to rethink the war. Needless to say, Gandhi’s pleas fell on deaf ears. Imagine how different history could have been if Hitler had followed Gandhi’s advice.
