Cincin – Malaysia and Brunei
Cincin, which translates into “ring cakes,” is a traditional snack for the Bruneian Malay people in the states of Sabah, Malaysia, and Brunei. This snack is believed to have originated from the date of Sabah and is made with red palm (Nipah), sugar, rice flour, cooking oil, water, and palm sugar.
While known as Cincin, this cookie’s full name is Kuih Cincin and it is sweet and crunchy and enjoyed by many Sabahans as a dessert as well as a yummy complement with coffee or tea. It has a crispy coating that is dense and chewy and has a sweet, nutty filling inside.
