Cornish Fairings – Great Britain
Cornish Fairings is a pasty main course or side meal that can be served either hot or cold. Being a native British food, this pasty is made by arranging uncooked meat and vegetables on a half, flat shortcrust pastry circle, which is then folded to wrap the inside filling. This forms a semicircle, and the edges are curved and sealed to prevent it from spilling during baking.
It is a particular food of Cornwall, SouthWest England in Britain and is filled with beef, potato, onion, and swede. Today, this food is more than a mere pastry, it accounts for more than 5% of the Cornish food economy as the pastries can be made with many different fillings, and some shops now specialize in selling them.
