Carquinyolis – Spain
Carquinyolis are among the best-known dry biscuits in Catalonia and they originate from the towns of Caldes de Montbui, Vic, Cardedeu, and L’Espluga de Francolí. Also called Brown Sugar Almond Biscotti, Carquinyoli are mainly found in the Spanish regions of Catalonia and Aragon.
Although they are often compared to Valencia’s Rosegons, Carquinyoli are made with whole or sliced almonds and can be cut thinly or thickly. This type of cookie can be found in major confectionery stores in Spain or Spanish-dominated areas and can be eaten alone or else dunked in tea. Either way, it’s a win-win dessert scenario.
