Black and White Cookie – United States
The Black and White Cookie is a round cookie with two different flavors. One half is vanilla, while the other half is chocolate. These two-colored cookies can be found in Northeastern America and in Florida. In New York, Black and White Cookies have fondant or royal icing on their surface.
Also called Half-and-Half Cookies or Half-Moon cookies, they can be traced back to 1902 to a baker in the Yorkville area of Manhattan called the Glaser’s Bake Shop. They were an important American food after the war. Black and White cookies have undergone several variations and today can either be frosted, non-frosted, dome-shaped, or flat.
