Butter Cookies – Denmark
Butter cookies are popularly known as Butter biscuits or Danish biscuits made of three ingredients: butter (as its name suggests), flour, and sugar. It originates from Denmark and is often regarded to be crispy in taste. Butter cookies have no additives or flavoring in their most basic form, but they are now often flavored with chocolate and vanilla and garnished with sugar crystals to heighten their taste.
Aside from their regular round shape, butter cookies now come in different shapes, like squares, rings, and even pretzels. Butter cookies are popular snacks in most parts of Europe and North America and are often eaten during festive seasons like Christmas. In some parts of Asia, especially Hong Kong, butter cookies are significant gift items and are often shared during the annual Chinese New Year Celebration.
