Fudge Cookies – United States
Fudge cookies are prepared with fudge, fudge-like flavor, or have the texture of fudge. Fudge cookies, which are often chocolate, are made of flour, chocolate, unsweetened cocoa, sugar, vegetable oil, margarine or shortening, vanilla, salt, and baking soda. They are also made with various other flavors like peanut butter fudge, and additional ingredients like nuts, almonds, cashews, and carob.

This confection is said to be traced to the earlier residents of the United States. There, bakers decided to create a variety of cookies from existing confections, and thus fudge was added to a cookie mixture. This simple trial led to what we now have as the fudge cookie. Modern confection stores dust fudge cookies with powdered sugar and sugar crystals after being baked.
