Abandoned Ryugyong Hotel
North Korea’s Pyongyang is home to the unfinished 105-story, 330-meter-tall Ryugyong Hotel, also known as the Yu-Kyung Hotel. Though its name means “capital of willows,” the structure has another name, the 105 Building, which alludes to the number of floors it has.
The project started in 1987 but was put on hold in 1992 as North Korea suffered an economic crisis following the collapse of the Soviet Union. The structure was topped out after 1992, but it was empty inside and had no windows.
