Heliodome in France
While France’s typical architecture of wooden cottages and huge fields of sunflowers and lavenders mimicking nature is nice, the Heliodome is an outright difference from France’s usual buildings. It is a futuristic sundial-shaped solar-powered home. It was built by Eric Wasser, a well-known cabinet maker who took a brief leave off his regular job to make this eco-friendly home.
The environmentally-conscious building was constructed at a calculated angle, providing good summer shade to keep the house cool and temperate. During winter, the house receives enough sunlight to warm the interior to room temperature. The home is located in the commune of Cosswiller in northeastern France and stands on a concrete base as solar panels support the hot water system.
