Here’s the truth behind the phenomenon called ‘Angel’s Glow’
One of the enduring mysteries of the American Civil War was a little-known phenomenon referred to as “Angel’s Glow.” This condition was found in some soldiers whose wounds began to glow and heal faster after the Battle of Shiloh in 1862.
For years, doctors and scientists were puzzled by this phenomenon. However, in 2001, two teens discovered that the so-called Angel’s Glow was caused by a bioluminescent bacteria. Apparently, it fed on other bacteria or pathogens, thus keeping soldiers healthy and free of severe wound infections.
