A Soapy Doppelgänger
Four prisoners at Alcatraz had innovative ideas for their escape plan. They each made a look-like mold of themselves using cotton, soap, and some hair. These molds were supposed to represent them and make their absence go unnoticed for as long as possible while they made their escape. They were able to get away in a raft and have never been found. The investigation was later closed in 1979, concluding that the inmates drowned, but what if they didn’t?
The Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary was a maximum security facility on an island in San Francisco Bay. It was closed in 1963 and later reopened as a public museum and tourist center.
