A Sperm Whale’s Mouth
Sperm whales are the largest toothed animals on earth, but shockingly enough, the size of their mouth does not correspond with such large teeth. Each cone-shaped tooth weighs a little over two pounds.
Sperm whales do not have teeth in their upper jaw, only sockets that accommodate the teeth on their lower jaw. Given the size of their teeth, it is no wonder that their primary meal is the giant squid. They can dive very close to the sea bed in search of these squids to feed on.
