Rat Snake With One Body but Two Personalities
Gumbo and Philo, a two-headed pet snake in Louisiana, made quite the splash when they were found slithering in the backyard of a Master Naturalist Program employee. The twins share a tail and a digestive and reproductive tract but don’t have the same personality. They have distinct personality traits.
It’s common for one head to be more dominant than the other, which is also true in this case. Both Gumbo and Philo are active, but Gumbo is the more dominant snake. Caring for them is not that different from caring for other snakes, but their owner says that she must ensure the water bowl is not too deep. Gumbo, being the dominant head, may drag Philo into the water.
