Touching a Baby Bird Will Cause Its Mother To Abandon It
If you are a wildlife lover, you must have probably heard this myth. Even though this isn’t true, it was well-intentioned. It started as a way to get people to stop disturbing wildlife. It prevented a lot of kids from picking up baby birds right out of their nests.
However, even though the myth is well-intentioned, it isn’t true. Most birds are unlikely to abandon their baby chicks over human touching and fiddling. Birds don’t have a strong sense of smell. Hence, they are unlikely to perceive the scent of humans and abandon their babies.
