While growing up, you may have been on the receiving end of your mom warning you to put on a sweater to avoid catching a cold due to the cold weather. While many of our parents mean well when they give us this advice, there is no link between catching a cold and weather.
Instead, people get a cold due to rhinoviruses that spread like other pathogens. You will contract the flu if you contact infected people or exchange bodily fluids. Flu, however, isn’t a result of cold weather.
