Ghost Mantis
Found in the heart of Africa, this specie of Mantis looks very much like a dead, shriveled leaf. This excellent camouflage is handy when trying to survive prey like snakes and other insect-eating animals. It also helps when trying to feed off smaller insects. You could easily walk past them if you didn’t know they existed.

They are usually dark brown but can also have sand, green, or a light brown body. Typically living a life cycle of about a year and six months, they are a popular pet worldwide. As adults, they are 5 cm long and can fly. Like the image above, they are found among leaves and flowers in their natural habitats of Madagascar and Africa.
